Now, I’ve got to admit here that so much, so far, is explained in the back of pleaasures book, but I figured that with words I had the time to cover the blurb. Quotes from The Pleasures of His style of writing allows other poets to be bold. There were one or two poems new to me that I enjoyed, when the subject was social movements and perceptions.
There is only one other author who can do the things to my head and heart that Bukowski does, and that is Raymond Carver. I’m not even sure where to begin here.

He tells it like it is unapologetically, throws in a few “fucks” and then wipes the floor with it, and guess what? He also worked in a dog biscuit factory, a slaughterhouse, a cake and cookie factory, and he hung posters bukowskl New York City subways. He just writes about his everyday life, a life which generally consists of a damnfd of bad jobs, women, booze, horses and unsavory and unhygienic situations. I loved those poems and thought I would enjoy more of his work.
He made me laugh, think, gasp at the rawness of life I remember seeing living in the outskirts of San Dambed in the 70’s. But it’s always honest, always raw.
Lists with This Book. I’m not going to get all flowery and sentimental because Bukowski I don’t think would have appreciated it or thought it too trite expressing the elite-est “cuteness”. That’s not to say it’s bad, but it’s certainly But don’t stop here.
A very balanced collection of all his work. Print edition must be purchased new and sold by Amazon. That to me is a clean, healthy lungful of fresh air!
