One of the main objectives  is to make you think critically about the popular culture we consume. With that in mind, this assignment asks you to carefully analyze a movie, movie franchise or television show (streaming programs like those produced by Netflix and Amazon are fine). For your analysis, you will need to become personally familiar with a show or movie. That means watching the programming closely and conducting a fair amount of library research. As you work, consider the company that produces the programming, the market reach, the target audience and the message the programming conveys to consumers. You will then use your research to identify one particularly interesting component of the programming and interpret what that means to our society. For example, you might look at the portrayal of female characters in the TV drama “Supergirl,” ultimately deciding whether those portrayals deliver positive, negative or mixed messages to young women.  As another example, you could look closely at the political content of the sketch comedy show “Saturday Night Live,” determining whether the program has a bias toward either conservative or liberal beliefs. Your research options are virtually unlimited. The key will be familiarizing yourself with the material as thoroughly as possible and looking for patterns and messages that have the potential to shape our world. Your paper should be approximately 1,000 words (longer is fine but you will lose points if you fall below 1,000 words) and it should contain sections designed to tackle each of the following areas. label each section. Along with your paper, you should turn in a bibliography listing at least four sources that you used while conducting research (more sources are allowed and encouraged). If you reference these sources in your paper, you should also credit them appropriately, using a standard citation format like MLA or APA. Purchase the answer to view it

Some believe that Tim Cook, who became CEO in 2011, embraces a more collaborative leadership style. Do research to compare and contrast the leadership styles of the two CEOs. (You may wish to view the 2013 movie JOBS, which portrays the story of Steve Jobs’ ascension from college dropout to Apple CEO.) Which CEO—Jobs or Cook—do you think developed and executed the most effective strategic plan? What evidence can you find to support your opinion? Once your Graded Assignment is uploaded, a program called Turn It In will analyze your submission for plagiarism.  Submissions with more than 40% will not be accepted! 1. Should be 350-500 words. 2. Background: In the last quarter of the 19th Century, the Industrial Revolution was in full swing; however, with the business boom came a number of concerns, including corporate influence in politics and waves of immigration, as well as a middle class in apparent decline. The rise of captains of industry (or robber barons), with their sway of politicians, created a widespread feeling among common Americans that they had had lost control of their government. Required Source: Instructions: Based on your textbook and the assigned video, analyze how the revolutionary nature of this period impacted either Native Americans, immigrants, or farmers, using the following questions as the basis of your analysis: Your initial post should be at least 250 words in length. Support your claims with examples from the required material(s) and properly cite any references. You may use additional scholarly sources to support your points if you choose. Your references and citations must be formatted according to APA style as outlined by the Ashford Writing Center. Respond in a substantive manner to at least two of your classmates’ posts by Day 7. Each response should be at least 100 words. Respond This section lists options that can be used to view responses.

Name three social determinants that can be found in national databases. Identify which national database you would use to locate those social determinants. Of the three social determinants you named, which do you believe would be the most preventable? Explain your response. The three most common social determinants are education, socioeconomic status, and health. Social determinants are essential factors that exert and influence over individual’s health. The most common national/international databases are World Health Organization or an individual state government database, such as the portfolio of health affairs. Of the three listed the most I believe education is the determinant that is the most preventable. My community is struggling in this factor because there are so many options to choose from. You have public, private, charter, and now a new polytechnic institute which is pulling families in several directions on what to choose. You would think with all the options that families would be excited but with polytechnic being new this school year and the charter schools taking over no one really knows where to send their kids; outside of where they’ve been going. I would not want my child to be a trial study. If everyone is entitled to a good education how do you know what to pick when there are so many options.

We spent a handful of weeks centering both the concept of intersectionality as well as exploring different pathways of Black Feminist Theory and what they can offer us as activist, academics, and individuals. Respond to the following prompts referencing the texts we’ve been working with so far: A. In “Learning from the Outsider Within”, Patricia Hill Collins offers us three key themes in Black Feminist Thought. In your own words, describe each theme and offer some explanation for each – specifically, how you understand the theme. Feel free to use examples to support your explanation. B. Both Patricia Hill Collins and Kimberle Crenshaw emphasize the importance of approaching sociology and the legal field from an intersectional framework. How would you explain intersectionality to someone who has not heard the term before? How do you see intersectionality emerge (or not) in social justice movements and causes you are interested in/engaged with/experiencing? C. Why do you think it is important to center Black Feminist thought and Black women’s voices as critical components to our fight for gender equity, sexual freedom, and overall liberation?

Throughout this course, you will be putting together a series of papers based on the units you are completing. Within the first two units you will need to research a company with a union and contact the HR manager, a union representative, or both to see if they would be willing to assist you with this project. You might need to email them and document their response. You may use the same company for all three unit assignments. Next, you will choose a minimum of three of the following five issues. As you read these chapters, you will come up with eight to ten questions per unit assignment to ask the company. These questions should be approved by the professor prior to the interview. Once they are approved, you will contact the company representative(s) and interview them regarding the questions. You can do this in person, by phone, or if needed, by email. For each assignment, you will write a minimum two-page paper encompassing the results of your findings.
